Make it in America Challenge grants opportunity announced

Make it in AmericaWith great anticipation, the Obama Administration officially released a Federal Funding Opportunity for the Make it in America Challenge. In a partnership between the Department of Commerce (DOC) and the Department of Labor (DOL), this new competitive grant will provide $40 million to support the development and implementation of economic development strategies to spur job growth and increase manufacturing production in the U.S.

The new opportunity is $40 million in competitive grant funding for the development of regional economic development strategies. As set forth by the Obama Administration, the goals of this effort are to strengthen regional assets, connect regional supply chains, assist small-to-medium sized enterprises, and build a highly-skilled and diverse workforce to meet employer demand. As a joint effort of the Economic Development Administration and the National Institute of Standards and Technology, which are both part of the DOC, and the Employment and Training Administration with the DOL, all applicants must submit an integrated proposal that captures the goals of each agency. For those within the Delta Regional Authority, additional funding is being made available through its federal allocation.
